Children's Dentistry

Children's Dentistry

Children should attend the dental practice as young as possible to acclimatise them to the environment. We want to ensure that parents are well informed about correct tooth brushing and diet to ensure that tooth decay is a thing of the past. Formal examinations should start at approximately 3 years of age.

Sometimes however, despite your best efforts your child may have to have some dental treatment.

You might think that childrens dentistry is no different to any other type of dentistry and technically this is true. However, it is important that children are managed in a completely different way to ensure that their experience is a positive one, no matter what the treatment is that they are receiving.

We acclimatise children to the environment and the ‘tools’ of dentistry so that they feel comfortable before attempting more invasive treatment. Once we are ready to start treatment, we use behaviour management skills to ensure that the experience is productive and positive.
